In this age of progressive scepticism, some scientists and philosophers have expressed scepticism concerning the Causal Principle - 'whatever begins to exist has a cause’ In particular, they have objected that, even if the Causal Principle applies to things within the universe, it might not apply to the universe entirely or it may not hold with respect to the beginning of the universe.
